«Kyivstar» Expands Its Network: 378 New Cell Sites in 6 Months

«Kyivstar» telecom operator continues to work on improving its connection and service quality. Thus from January till June 2010 the number of the operator’s cell sites increased by 378 units. Particularly, 83 new cell sites appeared in Central Ukraine, 176 ones — in Western, 37 ones — in Eastern, and 82 ones — in the South.

Each month the company’s technical manager performs activities to increase «Kyivstar» network capacity in each region of Ukraine, what facilitates to improve the service quality.

The network for providing high quality mobile internet services via EDGE/GPRS technology has also been expanded in most Ukrainian regions. «Kyivstar» constructed first cell sites for using WiMAX technology in 8 Ukrainian cities (Kyiv, Kharkiv, Lviv, Simferopol, Dnipropetrovsk, Donetsk, Chernihiv, and Cherkassy) and put them into operation.

«Kyivstar» takes care of its current clients, who come to resorts in summer, and the country’s visitors. Apart from implementing «Resort» tariff plan, the telecom operator expanded its network capacity in the Southern part of Ukraine before the holiday season, when the network load considerably increases. In particular, the number of cell sites was increased and the existing ones were modernized.
